Watch the films and tell us your story
The beloved film series that was a hit at this summer’s HACPAC’s Movies Under the Stars and our recent SACKtoberfest is now available online to watch anytime. Stories on Main Docu Series. A SACK Business Alliance project that was brought to life with the help of the NNJCF (Northern New Jersey Community Foundation) and award-winning filmmaker Dana Glazer. Conducting in-depth interviews with the merchants, Dana was able to create mini-documentaries that told inspiring stories of what happens when immigrants have a dream in a community that welcomes all cultures. These four, five-minute films delve into not just how they all opened successful businesses but how accepting the residents have been.
The outpouring of support from Downtown has been incredible when it came to not just seeing the films but continuing to dine and shop on Main Street. And now you can see all the films for yourself online. Coffee Break, Colombia Bakery Factory, Colombian Fashion Boutique and El Turco Grill. You can watch them all right here at https://downtownhackensack.org/story-map.
Once you view the films, we’d also love for you to take our online survey to provide your thoughts. Projects like these are organic, so with your help, for future events, we can offer more of what you love and improve on what you’d like to see change. While you’re on our site, you can view our interactive map to learn more about these Main Street merchants. And you can even fill out a form to submit your story about what you love about Downtown and describe your own favorite Main Street moment. Each submission will be featured on our site in the near future.
