Meet the Merchant: “I started martial arts when I was a freshman in high school to do something positive with my time, rather than being out in the streets. I enjoyed the competitiveness of the sport, which led me to major in exercise physiology in college and become a personal trainer and fitness coach. I appreciated the structure and discipline martial arts gave me. Now, years later, I get to witness that positive effect within my students, and some at a very young age. It’s great to have this large space right on Main Street that is central. My students come from Hackensack and the surrounding areas. Having such a large space right on Main Street, it’s very convenient for everyone. I also enjoy the family-oriented environment that has been created at the school. We teach and empower kids and adults to become leaders and champions in life through martial arts. Then they are able to apply those skills in their everyday lives.
