Hackensack Walking Club and Wellness Challenge
Join the Health Dept. in its 3rd annual Six Week (4/13 -5/18) Walking Club and Wellness Challenge! So, this year we’re adding Zumba to our Saturday morning meet-ups and there will be NO REGISTRATION FEE! We will be meeting Saturdays from April 13th – May 11th at 8:30 am for an energizing 45-minute Zumba class led by Osy. Then at 9:15 am we’ll take off on a one-mile walk.
On Saturday May 18th We’re going all out with our Grand Finale. We’ll start our walk at 9:00 am, follow it up with Zumba in Atlantic Street Park and Join in a fun, resource-filled event at our Lifestyle & Health Fair: Celebrating the Culture of Hackensack! So, you’ll be able to enjoy Zumba, Free Kona Ice (for first 100 people), Music, Face Painting, local food vendors, Culturally Diverse acts and demos and, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with various city departments and community partners too! Hackensack Cultural Celebration: A Lifestyle & Health Fair
Calling all Hackensack residents! The Health Department is proud to present the first-ever “Hackensack Cultural Celebration: A Lifestyle & Health Fair” taking place on Saturday, May 18th, 2024. Please join us at the Atlantic Street Park, located directly behind the Hackensack Performing Arts Center [102 State St, Hackensack, NJ 07601] from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM EST for this FREE, outdoor event. In an effort to meet various obligations outlined in the “Enhancing Public Health Infrastructure Grant”, the goals of this event are to:
1. Increase health equity for disproportionately affected populations, 2. Provide health education and outreach in the community of Hackensack, and 3. Motivate participants and community stakeholders to make positive health behavior changes. The individuals participating in this event will be various community partners throughout Hackensack & Bergen County, and local vendors who we feel represent the heart & soul of Hackensack. In addition to the distribution of free health resources, attendees can expect live music throughout the day and various cultural performances/demonstrations from local talent. Food and refreshments from your favorite Hackensack restaurants will also be featured for purchase.
